What is Airflow?

Airflow is composed of Portable Solar-Powered dehumidifiers used to pull water out of the air and turn it into purified drinking water

Our Mission Statement at Airflow is to provide a renewable, purified, and portable water source to all people with limited access. Airflow not only lessons disease, but also creates opportunities and takes a first step towards breaking the cycle of poverty.

Airflow operates as a nonprofit organization focused on bringing sustainable water to impoverished and highly humid areas in the country of Nigeria.

Why Nigeria? Good question. Let us explain... Airflow began when we realized that we were able to take the moisture from the air and collect it to the point of having a gallon of water, using our Portable Solar-Powered dehumidifiers. This water was then able to be purified through our filtration technology. Nigeria posed as a great place to implement our new technology as Nigeria has a high national poverty rate, a lack of access to clean water, as well as a high national humidity rate. The Nigerian national poverty rate is at 71%. (Onyeiwu p. 19). Aiding to the high poverty rate is the fact that 33% of the entire population is lacking access to clean water. With this being said, the need for sustainable and clean water in Nigeria is higher than most other countries worldwide. Along with the high poverty rate and low access to water, Nigeria possesses large portions of the country that are extremely humid year round. To be most effective, high humidity is needed for our dehumidifiers. With these variables taken into consideration, we calculated that Nigeria is the country where our newfound technology would be most effective immediately.

Country of Focus

Have you ever wondered why poverty levels are so high in some places and much less significant in others? We at AirFlow pondered that same question and wondered why countries like Nigeria have a higher poverty rate than many other countries worldwide. When we thought about ways we could aid in breaking this cycle of poverty, we looked to one of the main culprits to this never ended cycle of poverty in countries like Nigeria; lack of access to clean water. At AirFlow, we are first taking our efforts over to Nigeria where poverty levels reach 71% of the overall population and 33% of those people do not have a sustainable clean source of water. 55 Million people suffer everyday from the lack of this necessity, and we knew that change had to be implemented for long-term change. The main focus of AirFlow is to provide struggling countries with a clean and renewable water source. As of now, people, (mainly the women of Nigeria), walk an average 3.7 miles a day to provide their loved ones with clean water. To exert such energy just to provide a clean water source is saddening. Due to this, we at AirFlow want to help.

With our highly sustainable product and resources available to us, we are able to help the impoverished areas of Nigeria, especially over the course of their extended dry periods. Nigeria experiences an 8 month dry period where the average humidity can reach 84.7%. The humidity is detrimental to the health of Nigerians, however, with the use of our products at AirFlow, we can be what provides sustainable water in these times of extended drought. This is a country where necessities have been denied due to the conditions of their environment and the cemented cycle of poverty. With the committed individuals here at AirFlow, as well as your help through donations and service, we can help provide sustainable clean water to the people of Nigeria and put an end to this cycle of poverty.

Getting Involved

We at Airflow encourage our readers to get involved and raise awareness towards our mission of helping those in need. With the help of donors like you, we are able to do what we do well. Word of mouth marketing has always been the best kind of marketing. We  believe that by making as many individuals aware as possible to the dire need for resource and sustainable water in Nigeria, people like you will be moved to compassion and giving, while serving towards the humanitarian cause of providing a clean source of water for those desperately in need.

A few ways that you can be an active member of the Airflow community is through subscribing to our monthly updated blog, as well as following us on Instagram and Facebook @TheAIRFLOWProject for weekly content and news.

Through our social media and blog, we have been able to spread awareness of the pressing situation in Nigeria to over 2 million people worldwide, and we long to continue to grow that number in the following days, weeks, months, and years to come. Other ways you can serve those in Nigeria is through considering donating to our annual world-wide fundraiser held in Toledo Ohio, volunteering, and talking about the issue in social gatherings. We are planning community events to help raise awareness and let people know why our plan can work with the help of others who see our mission and long-term goal.

WHATS NEXT?

We at Airflow plan on making numerous trips in 2022 to provide resources and in person implementation of our systems to households in high humidity regions of Nigeria. With the main source of budget being derived from donations as well as the main source or labor coming from volunteers, volunteers and donations will be essential to executing our plan to the fullest and to reaching as many people as possible. As mentioned, our social media growth will be an enormous in progressing towards raising awareness globally as the more eyes that see our content the better chance we have at succeeding. We hope for you to recognize our efforts to creating a sustainable clean water source to the needing people of Nigeria and support our mission by getting involved and raising awareness with us at Airflow!
